Anthropologie were hired Brooklyn based perfumers D.s. & Durga to create four new fragrances. We may find these perfumes too heavy and retro. with vintage or quirky clother style, furniture and house wares.
An enchanting blend of musk, iris, patchouli, lily, and ginger (Floral). This 1538 Rheims fragrance presents resinous, dense patchouli — not modern, cleaned-up, re-configured patchouli. Iris and ginger lily can’t stand up to such patchouli, but we can smell a “green”/daisy-like floral note during the perfume’s opening. 1538 Rheims dries down to a soft musk-patchouli blend.
A luscious and smoky blend of scents culled from Turkish fire pits, including frankincense, birch and cassia bark (Spice). That makes this Smoked Amber fragrance smells like a spice cake.
An exotic silk road scents of saffron, cardamom, roses and mandarin (SPICE). It’s a rivh almost-oudy fragrance, rose, citrus and spice blend. A sharp aroma of saffron keeps the East MidEast fragrance from becoming too sweet.
An herbal tincture of dwarf pine and fig leaves, cooled by cypress and cedar (FRESH). A mellow, sweet and resin-y wood fragrance with a hint of fig leaf in the opening, this is a great layering scent.
1538 Rheims fragrance, Smoked Amber fragrance, East MidEast fragrance and Royal Purpure fragrance are limited edition. The D.S. & Durga Anthropologie Collection fragrance are well made with a good lasting power and mild sillage. This The D.S. & Durga Anthropologie Collection fragrance available in Eau de Parfum, price $48 for 18 ml. Visit anthropologie.com for buying this perfume. (image from nstperfume.com)
