Moises de la Renta, adopted son of Oscar de la renta and founder of MDLR, signed a deal to design a limited collection for Mango back in November. Moises created a collection of t-shirts embellished with jewels, precious stones and tulle for a luxe finish.

“My inspiration for this collection were the traditional romantic themes: from pretty patchworks with summer flowers in sombre colours, such as rose, violet, grey and black, to graphic illusions which combine transparent effects, with shiny gems and adornments in between,” Moises said in a release. Angelina Jolie looked too stunning and beautiful in St. John black&white  ads. But we won’t be seeing Angelina Jolie in any more St. John ads.

There will be no more glamour shots of Angelina Jolie or images of a vacationing Kelly Gray for St. John going forward. “(Jolie) overshadowed the brand,” said chief executive officer Glenn McMahon. “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.” This led to hiring model Karen Elson, who was shot by photographer Greg Kadel in a bare studio for the spring campaign. “We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John,” McMahon added. “We have evolved.” Read the rest of this entry »
