On February 20 Sonia Rykiel’s second collection for H&M hits stores. 200 H&M stores worldwide will be filled with Gallic glamour as Sonia Rykiel’s second collection for the store launches.

Following the success of Rykiel’s lingerie line in December, this time we will be treated to a bright and bold knitwear range that will provide a much-needed injection of Parisian joie-de-vivre as we continue to battle against the arctic weather.

Rykiel has designed a series of brightly coloured monochrome and striped sweaters – complete with chirpy French slogans – along with rhinestone embellished berets, playful jumper dresses and chic short suits.

“The essence of Sonia Rykiel is the Parisian woman of Saint Germain des Pres, the Left Bank or Rive Gauche,” the designer’s daughter, Nathalie Rykiel, who is also president and artisitc director of the fashion house, explains.

“The idea of the collection is to offer the essence of Sonia Rykiel. This [H&M] line is absolutely true to our philosophy, which is about quality and know-how, and not about money. H&M gave me complete freedom with creation and quality. We used pure wool and pure cotton. It’s the DNA of Rykiel.”

At prices starting from around £24.99 for a jumper, or £29.99 for a one-shoulder dress, the H&M collection is considerably more affordable than the mainline Sonia Rykiel collection.
